Besteck zur künstlichen Besamung von Elefanten und dessen Verwendung

Das Patent No. 196 069 925 wurde am 13. Februar 1996 durch Dr. Thomas Bernd Hildebrandt und Dipl.-Ing. Arno Schnorrenberg gemeinsam angemeldet. Das entwickelte System sowie die dazu ausgearbeitete Handhabung gestattete erstmals die erfolgreiche nicht-chirurgische künstliche Besamung von asiatischen und afrikanischen Elefanten. Bisher sind über 40 Elefantenkälber auf der Grundlage dieses Patents weltweit erzeugt worden. Aufgrund seiner hohen Erfolgsquote und der schonenden Handhabung für den Patienten ist die künstliche Besamung nach Hildebrandt und Schnorrenberg heute global ein wichtiges Element in der Zucht von Elefanten in Menschenhand. Es wurde bei der Anmeldung auf Schutzrechte außerhalb Deutschlands verzichtet, so dass keine Lizenzeinnahmen durch das Patent generiert werden.

Besteck zur Gebärmutterpassage bei großen Säugetieren

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Kathetersystem zur künstlichen Besamung von Nashörnern. Die Kathetersystem ermöglicht beim Nashorn die nicht-chirurgische, intra-uterine Besamung. Es kann zur Applikation von Medikamenten in die Gebärmutter sowie zur Gebärmutterbiopsie beim Nashorn eingesetzt werden. Mit Ausnahme des südlichen Breitmaulnashorns sind derzeit alle rezenten Nashornarten und Unterarten vom Aussterben bedroht. Die Nachzucht von Nashörnern in zoologischen Einrichtungen als Beitrag zur Arterhaltung ist von verschiedensten reproduktionsbiologischen Problemen überschattet. Die Entwicklung der nicht-chirugischen und nicht-invasiven künstlichen Besamung beim Nashorn als alternatives Mittel für Nachzuchtbemühungen sowie die Möglichkeit Gebärmuttererkrankungen lokal behandeln zu können bildeten die Motivation der Erfindung eines hierfür geeigneten Kathetersystems. Bedingt durch die komplexen anatomischen Gegebenheiten der Scheide und des Gebärmutterhalses beim Nashorn waren Eingriffe dieser Art bisher nicht möglich.
